TRIMM-3 Study: New Combination Therapy for Multiple Myeloma

Multiple myeloma is a malignant disease affecting a specific type of white blood cell; the disease often leads to bone destruction. While there are now a variety of treatment options available, there are still situations in which the disease flares up again despite treatment or cannot be brought under control. The goal of the TRIMM-3 study is to investigate whether, in this situation, a new combination therapy consisting of one of the antibodies talquetamab or teclistamab together with a PD-1 inhibitor is well tolerated. Patients with previously treated multiple myeloma who require further therapy but for whom treatment with known regimens is not an option are eligible to participate.

OncoPhys Study: Investigating Physical Activity in Cancer Patients Using Questionnaires, Activity Trackers, and Patients

Physical activity can improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients. However, the accuracy of methods used to measure physical activity can vary greatly. The goal of the OncoPhys study is to compare the results of physical activity measurements obtained using a questionnaire and an activity tracker. Women and men aged 18 and older with lymphoma, pancreatic cancer, or colorectal cancer are eligible to participate in this study.

Two new CAR-T cell therapies for the treatment of previously treated B-cell lymphomas

B-cell lymphomas are malignant diseases of the lymphatic system that are typically treated with immunochemotherapy. If the disease does not respond to this treatment (refractory) or becomes active again (recurrence), new treatment options such as CAR-T cells are used. This study investigates the safety and efficacy of the new CAR-T cell therapies KITE-363 and KITE-753. Women and men aged 18 and older with refractory or relapsed B-cell lymphoma are eligible to participate in this study.

Comparison of Isatuximab Administered as a Subcutaneous Injection or an Infusion as First-Line Treatment for Multiple Myeloma

For multiple myeloma, combination therapy—including the drug isatuximab—has now become the standard of care. To date, only intravenous administration of isatuximab has been approved, which typically involves long infusion times and requires patients to receive treatment at a medical facility. The goal of the GMMG-HD8/DSMM XIX study is to determine whether subcutaneous administration of isatuximab is just as effective and safe as infusion therapy. Women and men between the ages of 18 and 70 with newly diagnosed, previously untreated multiple myeloma who require systemic therapy and are eligible for high-dose therapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation may participate in the study.

Study of the bispecific antibody talquetamab in combination therapies for patients with relapsed or treatment-resistant multiple myeloma following prior treatment with an anti-CD38 antibody and lenalidomide

Currently, there are only limited treatment options available for patients with multiple myeloma (MM) who have already undergone various lines of therapy for their disease. The goal of the MonumenTAL-6 study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of new combination therapies with talquetamab. The study is open to women and men aged 18 and older with multiple myeloma who have already received one to four prior lines of treatment.

Artificial Intelligence to Improve Leukemia Diagnosis

Artificial intelligence (AI) can be used in medicine to analyze, for example, laboratory test results, tissue sections (biopsies), and patient/disease data, with the goal of evaluating test results more accurately and quickly. The goal of the BELUGA study is to investigate the suitability of AI for improving the diagnosis of blood cancers (leukemias and lymphomas). Adults aged 18 and older who are suspected of having a malignant blood disorder and for whom appropriate biological samples are available for analysis are eligible to participate in the study.

Treatment of the gut microbiome to prevent complications associated with stem cell transplants

The composition of the gut flora, also known as the microbiome, varies from person to person and can be important for health. It is believed that a balanced microbiome can support various bodily functions and contribute to maintaining good health. The goal of the PHOEBUS study is to investigate whether microbiome therapy with the drug MaaT033—an investigational drug that has not yet been approved—can improve the survival rate following allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Eligible participants include women and men aged 50 and older who are scheduled to undergo an allogeneic stem cell transplant for blood cancer.

Long-term follow-up care for former cancer patients through education about long-term effects and tracking the prevalence of secondary diseases, including prospective recording in a database

Many people who had cancer as children or adolescents remain at increased risk of long-term health effects even years after completing treatment. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of comprehensive, specialized follow-up care systems. The goal of the LE-Na study is to establish a structured follow-up program for former cancer patients in order to better identify and treat long-term health effects in the future. Women and men who have completed cancer treatment (diagnosis and treatment of cancer during childhood or adolescence, i.e., before their 18th birthday) are eligible to participate, provided they are not currently undergoing oncological treatment.

New Maintenance Therapy for Multiple Myeloma Following Stem Cell Transplantation: Comparison of Iberdomid Alone or in Combination with an Antibody (Isatuximab)

A complete cure is generally not possible in the treatment of multiple myeloma. However, there are many medications that can help control the disease. Initial treatment usually consists of intensive therapy followed by maintenance therapy to achieve the longest possible period without disease activity. The goal of the GMMG-HD9/DSMM XVIII study is to investigate and compare the efficacy and tolerability of a new maintenance therapy with the drug Iberdomid, either alone or in combination with Isatuximab, following high-dose therapy and subsequent autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). Eligible participants include women and men aged 18 and older with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma who have completed initial treatment. This study is a follow-up to the GMMG-HD8/DSMM XIX study. This means that only patients who were previously treated as part of that preliminary study are eligible to participate.

Feasibility Study on Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Guided Radiation Therapy Using an MR-Linac

Radiation therapy using the MR-Linac is used when tumors need to be treated with particularly high precision while minimizing damage to the surrounding healthy tissue as much as possible. The aim of this study is to determine whether a novel combination of magnetic resonance imaging and radiation therapy—the so-called MR-Linac—can be reliably used in everyday clinical practice. Adult patients for whom radiation therapy is medically necessary and who have no contraindications to an MRI scan are eligible to participate.
