New prevention initiative aims to support healthier everyday lives
Germany’s federal, state and local authorities are to work more closely together on health promotion across all stages of life.
Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health launched the initiative on 16 July 2026. It aims to connect existing services more effectively and strengthen cooperation beyond the healthcare sector.
Priorities include healthier childhoods, working lives and ageing, alongside accessible health information. Specific areas of action are to be agreed with the participating organisations. The launch starts a policy process; it does not introduce a new individual healthcare entitlement.
