What is this trial about?
The more we know about the characteristics of cancer cells—for example, through analyses of tissue samples—the more effective cancer treatment becomes. The goal is to investigate the causes of cancer and explore new treatment options. The goal of the MOSAIC study is to gain new insights into the biological diversity of cancers by analyzing tumor tissue and clinical data. Adult patients with a histologically confirmed tumor who consent to a tissue biopsy and meet certain medical criteria are eligible to participate. Women and men aged 18 and older with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma or other tumors affecting various organs or tissues are eligible to participate in this study. The study does not test new medications.
Detailed description
By collecting clinical data and analyzing tumor tissue, the goal is to make cancer treatment increasingly precise and better tailored to each patient’s individual risk. The idea is to examine tumors very comprehensively—at the cellular, genetic, and molecular levels—to identify patterns associated with disease progression, response to therapies, or resistance. In the long term, this approach aims to discover new targets for drugs and further advance precision medicine in oncology.
The goal of the MOSAIC study is the comprehensive collection and analysis of tumor tissue from a large number of patients with cancer affecting individual organs or with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a subtype of what is known as non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This is an observational study, which means that no new forms of therapy or specific medications are being tested as part of the study. In addition to collecting clinical data, a tissue sample from the tumor will be examined using various modern tissue analysis methods. The goal of this analysis is to create a detailed tumor profile. This genetic, cellular, and molecular information is intended to help develop new forms of therapy for the individualized treatment of tumors. Follow-up as part of the study will continue for up to 16 years.
Women and men aged 18 and older with tumors of any organ (not specified) or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma are eligible to participate in this study. Tissue samples that meet certain criteria (e.g., suitability for the preparation of a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue block, FFPE) should already be available.
